Amountle - Daily Visual Estimation Game
How many gumballs are in the jar? Amountle turns that fairground question into a daily game. Objects pour into a glass container, settle into a pile, and you have fifteen seconds to call the count. Five piles make a game, and everyone gets the same five each day.
How to play Amountle
- Press Start pouring. Objects fall into the jar or tank until the pile stops moving.
- The 15-second clock starts as soon as the pile settles. Drag the pile sideways, or press the left and right arrow keys, to look at it from another angle.
- Type your count on the number pad or your keyboard, then press Guess or Enter. If the clock runs out, whatever you have typed is locked in. An empty answer scores nothing.
- The real count appears straight away, with your points for the pile. Press Next pile when you are ready for the next pour.
- After five piles you get your total, a round-by-round breakdown and a spoiler-free result to share.
The game is about judging quantity, not counting every object. Notice how quickly things pour in, how full the container gets, and how many fit across its width.
Questions
How is Amountle scored?
An exact count scores 100 points plus a bonus worth a quarter of the pile, so hitting 120 exactly earns 130. Otherwise points fall away smoothly as your guess drifts: about 81 points at 5% off, 64 at 10%, 36 at 20% and nothing at 50% or more. Five piles make up to 500 points, more when you land an exact count.
What do the colours and squares mean?
Each pile gets a grade: 🎯 exact, 🟩 so close (80+ points), 🟨 nice (50+), 🟧 ballpark (20+), 🟥 way off, and ⬛ when time ran out with nothing typed. The dots at the top of the game fill in with the same colours, and the grade is also written out after every pile.
When do new piles arrive?
Every day at 00:00 UTC. The piles are generated from the date, so everyone sees the same containers, objects and counts. After you finish, a countdown shows when the next set is due.
Can I play more than five piles a day?
Yes. Practice set deals five new piles whenever you like. Practice links can be shared, so a friend can try the same set. Practice games never change your statistics or streak.
Does refreshing the page give me more time?
No. Your progress saves as you play. Reload during a pour and it starts again; reload while guessing and you return to the settled pile with the time you had left. The clock pauses while the tab is hidden or a window such as the instructions is open.
How do streaks and statistics work?
Your streak counts the days in a row on which you finished that day’s piles. Games played, your average score and your best score are kept in this browser, without an account.
What does sharing show?
The puzzle number, your score, your average miss and one square per pile. The real counts and the objects are never included, so you can post it without spoiling anyone’s game.
About this edition
This Playdle edition is inspired by the daily estimation game Amountle. Its physics, artwork, objects, scoring details and code are independent: the piles are simulated in your browser, and the game makes no network requests after the page loads.
