Size It Up — How to play
How big is a giraffe next to a person? How does a passenger plane compare with a bus? Size It Up tests your sense of scale. Use a familiar blue reference to resize the red silhouette, then reveal the actual size.
Play five daily comparisons, or open Help to start an unlimited set from five categories. Your progress is saved automatically.
How to play Size It Up
- Look at the blue reference and read the measurement being compared: height, width, length or diameter.
- Drag the red silhouette to move it. Drag a corner handle or use two fingers to resize it. The blue reference stays fixed.
- Use the board’s zoom controls if you need more room. Zoom changes your view of both objects without changing your estimate.
- Choose Lock In to reveal the correct size in grey. The result includes your estimated size, the actual measurement, your percentage error and your score.
- Complete five rounds for a total out of 500, then share your score or play another set.
For keyboard play, open Help and choose Adjust size and use the slider or Smaller and Larger buttons. Corner handles also accept arrow keys; hold Shift for bigger adjustments. Escape cancels a drag.
More questions, five categories
The catalog includes everyday objects, sports equipment, animals, vehicles and landmarks. Different reference objects create additional comparisons. A set never repeats an object. Mixed sets cover five different categories. Open Help to choose Unlimited and a category.
Daily sets are the same for everyone and reset at midnight UTC. Unlimited sets have no daily limit. Your current set and adjustments survive a refresh, and returning to Daily restores that day’s progress.
How scoring works
Each round is worth up to 100 points. An estimate within 6% of the actual dimension earns full marks. Scores decrease as the percentage error grows: 12% error earns 90, 20% earns 78, 50% earns 45 and an error of 160% or more earns zero. Values between those milestones are interpolated and rounded.
All five completed daily rounds count toward your streak, whatever your final score. Unlimited practice does not change daily statistics. Progress and personal statistics are stored in this browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does moving an object change my score?
No. Only the size of the stated dimension is scored. Moving and zooming help you compare the shapes.
Can I play more than once per day?
Yes. Switch to Unlimited for another five-round set, and choose any of the five categories. Daily results remain saved separately.
Can friends play the same questions?
Yes. Everyone gets the same daily set. An Unlimited result link preserves that set’s seed and category, so friends can try the same comparisons. Share text contains scores, without object names or measurements.
